Michael R. C. Anthony, a 20-year resident of the Pottstown/Pottsgrove community, is the president and founder of Community First Development Corporation, Inc (CFDC).

In 2010, Michael R. C. Anthony was driving through the Pottstown community and began to observe the different needs of its residents, available homes for sale, abandoned houses, closed businesses, and storefronts available for rent. His thought process at that time was, "We have the ability to rebuild Pottstown."

 He realized that the one thing holding them back was a "lack of knowledge." People can't do what they don't know they have the power to do.

He realized that they had to step out from behind closed doors and prioritize "developing our community first."

 At this point, the vision became clearer and was put into writing. 

It read as follows: "We must provide residents of all ages within the Pottstown surrounding community with knowledge and resources that will make them health-conscious, assist them with everyday living, and aid them in the development of their education, employment, and social skills. 

Our goal is to open their eyes to economic empowerment and provide career/entrepreneurial guidance to build up what has already been established in their community."

In 2011, CFDC became incorporated and established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. 

The board began to grow, and other local community organizations like the Ricketts Community Center and Rolling Hills Community began to provide space for various programs and events. Choose Lyfe, Healthy Hearts, and Recover All became partners as well, and they continue to grow. 

Their goal is very simple: to educate, motivate, build up, and empower their community.

In the spirit of Michael R. C. Anthony's vision and the collective efforts of CFDC and its partners, we are not merely rebuilding a community; we are nurturing a spirit of resilience and empowerment. Together, we are writing a new chapter in the story of Pottstown, one where knowledge, support, and unity reign supreme. As we continue to grow and inspire positive change, let us remember that, in the end, it's not just about developing a community; it's about developing the potential within each and every one of us. Together, we can rise, thrive, and create a brighter future for Pottstown and its wonderful residents.
